RMS Energy recently finished major work at the Boundary Dam in Metaline Falls, WA.
Boundary Dam is a concrete arch gravity-type hydroelectric dam on the Pend Oreille River, in the state of Washington. The dam is located in the northeast corner of Washington state, just south of the border with British Columbia, Canada. It is operated by Seattle City Light and makes up a significant portion of the City of Seattle's energy portfolio. Boundary Powerhouse, located adjacent to the dam, is completely built inside of the rock that makes up the left abutment of the dam itself.
Work on the project included removing an old isolated phase bus (IPB), with installation of a new Technibus IPB from splice to step-up XFMR. All IPB connections were removed and new ones installed, while all accessible stand-off insulators inside the IPB were cryogenically cleaned. The IPB was pressurized per site guidance.
